AP-HP (Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris) is the European leading university hospital. It has taken up the challenge of setting up the MEARY Center in the heart of Paris, at Saint-Louis Hospital, with the ambition to develop an infrastructure positioned at the best national level.

The MEARY Center for Cell and Gene Therapy is one of the leaders in the manufacturing of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs), offering cutting-edge expertise to clinicians and research teams as well as to industrial partners for the support and execution of their cell, tissue and gene therapy clinical trials.

Integrated within the AP-HP, the MEARY Center, directed by Prof. Jérôme Larghero, is positioned as a pioneering and recognized center for the manufacturing of ATMPs, thanks to the actors and experts who are working today for the medicine of tomorrow.

It provides patients with innovative treatments at a controlled cost, in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
Equipped with a wide range of functionalities allowing the development, the attractiveness and the quality of French clinical research, the MEARY center has been labeled as an "industrial integrator" within the framework of the France 2030 National Strategy for the Acceleration of Biotherapies and Bioproduction.

Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) are medicines for human use that are based on genes, tissues or cells.

ATMPs offer new treatment possibilities for serious or chronic diseases such as certain cancers, genetic diseases, cardiac or autoimmune pathologies and severe burns.

The purpose of the MEARY Center is to catalyze the delivery of innovation in cell and gene therapies to promote accelerated access to innovation in the healthcare system.
This will build national capacity to deliver safe, affordable, quality care to all patients, while addressing specific biotherapeutic challenges such as reducing costs and increasing production capacity.

Director of the MEARY Center & Department of Biotherapies

Professor of cell biology at the University of Paris Medical School, he is responsible for the cell therapy unit at Saint-Louis Hospital, the AP-HP cord blood bank and coordinator of the clinical investigation center for biotherapies. He also directs the MEARY Center for Cell and Gene Therapy at the AP-HP, dedicated to the production of innovative therapies. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and the National Academy of Pharmacy.

Pharmacist at the MEARY Center for Cell and Gene Therapy of the AP-HP at the Saint-Louis Hospital in Paris. She is in charge of the manufacturing of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) and acting pharmacist in charge. With her experience in the pharmaceutical industry in the biotechnology sector, then in cell therapy, she has been involved for more than 4 years in the implementation of academic clinical research projects or in partnership with industrialists, in compliance with the Good Manufacturing Practices related to ATMPs.

Pharmacist in charge of the quality control laboratory within the MEARY center of cell and gene therapy of the AP-HP. Having been trained in biotherapies (cell therapy, gene therapy and immunotherapies) in the most prestigious Parisian hospitals, and having completed his training in the development of biotherapies through a clinical training at the clinical investigation center for biotherapy at the Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital and the University of Paris 6 in Paris, Dr. Churlaud has more than 15 years of experience in the development and quality control of biotherapy drugs. Dr. Churlaud holds a PhD in immunology and has strong expertise in basic and translational research. At the MEARY center, Dr. Churlaud assists the various partners in their projects and implements quality control of experimental advanced therapy drugs in accordance with the regulations

She is a pharmacist at the MEARY Center of Cellular and Gene Therapy of the AP-HP at the Saint-Louis Hospital (Paris 10ème). She also holds a PhD in Sciences. She is in charge of Quality Assurance and is an interim manager. The activities of the MEARY Center are focused on the production of Investigational Therapeutic Drugs (ITD) for early phase clinical trials. With 15 years of experience in cell therapy, she now manages the quality management system to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices in all stages of the production of an investigational ATMPs and assists partners in drafting technical and regulatory files.
